Points Based System

Introduction

A new points-based system to enable the UK to control migration more effectively, tackle abuse and identify the most talented workers was launched in early 2008.

UK businesses and universities who will now be required to sponsor migrants and help to ensure that those they sponsor adhere to the terms of their visa.

Evaluation and acceptance of academic criteria for any given course by any given university is solely at the discretion of university and UK Border Agency will not BOTHER for the same. For e.g.: a student completed his graduation in 2005 and is idle for 4 years and would like to take up further studies now. Now UK Border Agency will not investigate the reasons for gap etc.,

Visa Letter from university shall mention the course, tuition fee and payment received towards tuition fee advance and explains the evaluation criteria for accepting the student.

Students who are enrolling for hospitality and healthcare related courses need to get their medicals done if the visa officer is willing to issue the visa. The process of completing the medicals may take up to one month.

Any student who is looking for a Student Visa need to obtain 40 points under new migration system, which can be obtained from

  • check-mark Visa Letter issued from 'A' ranked universities/institutions (registered in UK Border Agency Sponsor Register) will give the student 30 points.

  • check-mark Satisfaction of fund requirement as stated by Border Agency will make him/her eligible to get another 10 points and thus obtain Visa.

Cost of living to be demonstrated is as follows

  • check-mark Living within London Boroughs require £1000 per month if the course duration is less than 9 months and only £9000 if the course duration is more than 9 months.

  • check-mark Living within London Boroughs require £1000 per month if the course duration is less than 9 months and only £9000 if the course duration is more than 9 months.

  • check-mark Living within London Boroughs require £1000 per month if the course duration is less than 9 months and only £9000 if the course duration is more than 9 months.

UK Border Agency is ready to issue the visa 3 months PRIOR to the course start date.
